Okay... so i went to Madrid and Barcelona about a couple weeks ago, with RH and SH. We spent 3 days in Madrid and 2 in Barcelona, which isnt quite long, since we need to study for exam :(

Both are very nice cities.. i find myself liking the cultural and historical stuff more than the modern stuff... hahaha... i think they too. But most of the trip we were just sight-seeing, and EATING, since the trip was pretty short.

Before going, we'd heard of many a theft story, and we were super nervous about going around lol. We didnt lose anything though, cos we were extra careful! ^^

EXAM on first day of term, which is slightly more than a week from now. How fun is that.

Btw, Britain's Got Talent has started again! yay.. and this time it clashes with my exam completely. HAH. Bet u've all seen the Susan Boyle audition though, its like "most viewed this week" in like 200 countries on youtube :/ i like Flawless too, and it's only the first audition! Can't wait to watch the second one tonight ^^

Heh... so i havent been updating huh. Let's see what did i do in the past 2 months...

First up... Stonehenge!

So yea i went to Stonehenge with Dina on 3rd Jan 2009. Theres nothing much actually, other than a bunch of stones arranged in some peculiar formation... which makes it erm.. special i guess. It's smaller in size than i thought though, and Dina thought the same :/ haha. anyway...

Hehe... yea some updates...

I have no internet at home at the moment, therefore less motivation to update my blog. I'm rather free right now, cos classes havent started yet (but are starting tmr). But even so, my timetable this term/ year seems pretty empty ^^ so far i've got wednesdays off for the next few weeks i think ^^

Anywayyyy... I was in Amsterdam and back again. It's a really beautiful city, with the canals and canal houses <3 if i feel like it i will post the pics :P The trip was fun, with dina as the good host hehe. I rented a bike for a day, and cycling in Amsterdam is erm quite an experience :P First, the bike had a foot brake instead of a handbrake, so u'll have to back-pedal to stop or slow down. I took some time to get used to that haha. The bikes there are usually the old kind, and are all kinda tall... My feet could just barely touch the ground. And the scary thing about cycling there is when the cars and other cyclists whizzz past you on some narrow roads. @.@ The locals cycle pretty fast. I didnt get to see windmills cos they are like outside the city and tulips cos they're not in season :( Oh we tried the erm.. special food too ^^ but then i think we had too much we just fell asleep ahahahha. We had a day trip to Den Haag (The Hague) and saw the mini Holland Madurodam and the International Court of Justice. The mini Holland is just... so cute! haha

Hmm... oklar i've written enough to make this not a one-liner update XD since ppl complained that one-liners are not considered updates i made it longer okay ;)

I have been quite bored recently and was ~~playing with~~ looking through some old stamps... and noticed something quite... interesting? hahah.
The stamps issued in 1960-1962 all said National Day 3 June. I never knew they had a national day which isnt 9 August, and one that was declared before the merger and erm dismerger.

So... as I said I was bored I went to look up on Wikipedia. lol. But Wikipedia seems to have a "gap" in Singapore's history from 1959-1963 =.='' and there was no mention of 3 June anywhere. So by googling "Singapore history" I found it here.

The story goes like this:

"Self-government was attained in 1959. In May that year Singapore's first general election was held to choose 51 representatives to the first fully elected
Legislative Assembly. On June 3, the new Constitution confirming Singapore as a self-governing state was brought into force by the proclamation of the Governor, Sir William Goode, who became the first Yang di-Pertuan Negara (Head of State). The first Government of the State of Singapore was sworn in on June 5, with Lee Kuan Yew as Singapore's first Prime Minister."

So there comes the National Day on 3 June :P

Hallo. Okay the picture isnt that nice but i want to talk about this bridge cos i think its quite cool ^^. I didnt even know it existed until recently hahaha. A description of the bridge:

At 36 metres above Henderson Road, Henderson Waves is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore.
It was built to connect the two hills of Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill.The bridge has a unique wave-form made up of seven undulating curved steel “ribs” that alternately rise over and under its deck. The curved “ribs” form alcoves that function as shelters with seats within. Slats of yellow balau wood, an all-weather timber found in South-East Asia, are used in the decking.
Look out for carvings on the slats marking the height you are at on various points along the bridge.The wave-forms will be lit with attractive LED light from 7pm to 2am daily, giving the bridge an illuminative glow.

The bridge is really high lol and nice too! You may not see the "waves" clearly in my picture but if you click on the link above you can see the bridge from the side. The surface to walk on is made of wood. Quite amazing.

Hahahahah i know i've disappeared for about one week lol...will slowly update the blog with what happened in the past 1 week. A brief update:

Exam finished on 19th, relaxed, played games, chilled, went to see imax, packed, stored stuff, had dinner with asean ppl, went venice on 23rd, florence on 24th, pisa on 25th, back to london on 26th, back to kl on 27th, chilled at home, and now i'm in singapore!

That's basically what i did in the past 1 week laa... spent A LOT of time travelling on various modes of transportation, and have a sore back and shoulders, and am very tired lol. Anyway, i checked in to my little prison-room in PGP, will show photos later. Thank god it has aircond, cos it's SOOOOO hot in Singapore, even my chewing gums melted (maybe that's why they ban it, cos it'll melt anyway lol).

Ok, now that it's one day after the paper and the shock i suffered has slightly subsided, i think i can comment on the paper. With a clear head and serious tone, i want to say that it's a 100% GG paper, with 2 capital Gs. When i think about it, i can see more and more mistakes, and it'll be a miracle if i get anything above 50%. Seriously. And i blame mainly myself for it, cos i didnt memorise stuff properly, and i didnt think properly during the exam. In other words, i've been stupid. And now i have to use other stuff to cover for this. Haih.

Halfway Through Exams

Ahhh.. exams started 2 weeks ago, so for the past 2 weeks i've been crazy mugging away... imagine writing large amount of info into your memory (or cache so that the info can be read faster), and then deleting them after the paper, and rewriting another large amount of different info into your memory in preparation for the next paper. and the process repeats for every paper.

It's tiring really, i'm already rather exhausted halfway through the exam. As i mentioned in some earlier post, i've broken my own record of the time i put in preparation of an exam. I started the preparation on 29 March, the day after i came back from my easter holiday. Of course in between the preparation was interrupted by things like radio project, lab report, lab tests etc., but then again, i'm quite @.@ at how i'm still surviving.

I stopped watching movies about a few days after school started in April, and then stopped playing dota like... a month ago? But then i had Britain's Got Talent to keep me entertained for a while. haha.

Sometimes ppl asked why do i study so much? i thought about it, at this point in time when exams are like monsters trying to trap you and kill you, the only thing you can do is to keep running and beat them down one by one isnt it? Also cos i'm not good enough, so i need to work hard to be good lor... it's that simple. Well ... there's nothing else i can do anyway (that will not make me feel bad). I can watch movies everyday, but if i dont do well in exams i would regret rite? so might as well put in all i have so that i dont regret :) Also cos this year i have like 11 papers, i really think i need to put in more effort than before... therefore i study hard lor.

It's hard to motivate myself sometimes, but i take little indulgences like playing the piano to keep my going. I listen to music when i study, given how easily i get distracted, i need some ''controlled distractions'' to keep me distracted just enough to keep me from being distracted by other things.... er if u get what i mean. Coffee keeps me awake throughout the day, and i've gotten used to drinking coffee kosong- coffee without sugar or milk haha. I also buy coffee when i'm in school, and the coffee machine has become my buddy :). Sometimes i get cravings for unhealthy food hahaha and these cravings have to be satisfied before i can continue studying lol.

I have 6 more papers to go, almost all are papers that i'm worried about (erm actually which paper do i not worry about heh), and i really dunno what i will feel at the end of the last paper Analogue. Joy and jubilance? Emptiness? Tired and want to sleep for at least 2 weeks? Actually i'm not sleep deprived at all. I've been having enough sleep (i usually wake up before my alarm rings ;)) most of the time, but sometimes when i can't sleep then i take naps after my papers to make up for it.

I haven't been really happy these days, and studying keeps me happy (weird but true). I really love com lab, especially my favourite spot :P. Too bad they close at 12 (technically my favourite computer starts booting at 11), so i would have to leave at 11 everyday. I come as early as i can, which is not a problem during weekdays since they open at like 7 something but then during weekends they dont really open until like 10 - 11am :(

lol if u actually bother to read till here... i think i've never felt so unprepared for an exam before. Perhaps i said this last year, but then now i'm even more unprepared than last year, so yea i can say i've never felt so unprepared before lol.

Haih... hopefully i can survive the next 2 weeks...

Maybe because eating burgers distort ur face so much that it makes u look very sad eating it.

Or maybe cos eating fast food burgers could mean... they're hungry but they've got no time to eat proper food. :(

Hmm... digital was okay la... no major damage done. It was slightly more doable than expected, maybe because i really expected something very bad. Had just enough time to finish doing it, hence didn't really get to check it. I hope for later papers I will be more careful and not spend so much time doing simple things.

The story of a camel whose back broke

hahaha u know the story of the last straw that broke the camel's back?

one straw has almost negligible weight, but as u add more straws, their weights add up together (duh) and one last one will just break the camel's back.

now... a broken back is very bad, it might even kill the camel.

if the camel is so lucky to be alive, it will still have a back injury, and the back won't be as good as new anymore rite?

and the injury will affect the camel for a very long time, some explanations here that i dont wanna go through again.

anyway because the back was broken, now the camel can't carry so many straws anymore rite? maybe the back might break with just a fraction of the usual weight the camel can carry.

given this kind of circumstances, the camel should just rest and enjoy its retirement. well, at least given a very long MC.

but somehow, some people don't understand that, and expect that the camel can still bear the usual burden that it could carry before the back broke. and hence they keep forcing the camel to carry more straws, although the camel keeps refusing to do so, breaking its back a few times over.

so what happened to the poor camel in the end?

it died.

then the people tried reviving the camel, but it's too late, and they started wondering why the camel died. they think the camel committed suicide. but of course it didnt, it died from the injuries.

i think its really hard to swear in symbols using a british keyboard, cos the symbols are scattered everywhere and i had to type in one by one to make it look remotely like swearing. for american keyboards, u just need to brush ur hand across the number keys with the shift key pressed, and u get !@#$%^&*()_ . :/

i got pwned big time. T.T i dunno why the lecturer decided to set such a hard paper this year (compared to previous years). T.T Really gg-ed. Alright had my first paper this morning... and i'm still alive. It wasn't too bad, slightly easier than expected, and can be classified as a non-gg paper. A good start to the exam spree. That's 4% done, another 66% to go. Next paper on Control is 5.3%, and i really hope to do well in that paper.

War starting in 2 days

Yea, on Tuesday, my 3 weeks-long war will start. I've been hard-core studying since 2 whole months ago T.T and i have 3 more weeks to go. I think i've broken my own record of the longest exam-mode spree in my entire life.

I have 11 papers, weighing a total of 70% of the year, and they are:

Some papers weigh more than others, and i'm currently focusing on the first 5 papers, cos i really can't keep so many different things in my head at the same time. And lucky for me the papers are actually staggered, with most of them having at least one free day in between.

In terms of readiness (i.e. u can throw the exam to me now and i won't be too upset)... right now i'm about 60% ready for ARM, 90% for Control, 60% for Digital, 80% Maths 3, and er... 40% Maths 4? About there la... Gonna do some Fields today and ARM tonight and tomorrow. Gonna focus more on the two Maths papers, since they account to like 17%, waaay more than the other papers.

I'm most worried about Analogue though :(

Smart alarm clock

I have an idea a super alarm clock that's guaranteed to wake ppl up, inspired by my own stupidity. how ironic.

This morning i somehow managed to pour a glass of water on my table onto my own face while still lying in bed, immediately after which i jumped out of bed to save it from being too wet. But of course my pillow and some parts of the bed got wet. Better than alarm clock i tell you.

So.. someone can create an alarm clock which, after maybe 2 snoozes will pour water onto the owner's face. I think need to use state machines. Confirm wake up straight.

But i also woke up with a shoulder/neck pain :( dunno why lar.

I was a little bored so i picked up a copy of Felix and read it. There's this article titled as above, and it says:

''IC makes the least amount of money from library fines out of 20 top universities surveyed, including LSE, Oxford, Cambrigde, ... The information ... shows that in the year 2006/07, UCL made £168,942 and Manchester University made £190,338 from library fines whilst IC accrued a miniscule £6,474. As an average this amounts to around 50p per person.''

The article gave 2 possible reasons:
1. ''Imperial students are uniquely conscientious about returning their books''. *Coughcough*

2. ''It's probably due to the fact that few people can withstand the Sahara-like conditions of our library long enough to take out a book''. LOLLLOL maybe. hahahah.

Oh well, lemme tell you why lar har. i think i'm qualified enough being someone who has the maximum number of items allowed (20) borrowed under her name for half of the academic year, and at least 15 for the other half lol.

The truth is that the library is really very very kind. 3 days before any item is due, you will first receive a reminder in your email, with a link to the online renewal page where 2 clicks can let u have the items for another 1 week-1 term according to the term allowed for the item. Each item can be renewed a maximum of *ahem* 20 times.

So yea if you borrow a book with long-term loan u can technically keep it for... about 5 years not including the super-long-term vacation loan period, without even having to step into the library. Provided no one else wants the book and you're still a member of the college. Lol

After the due date, if you fail to renew/return, you get a ''First Overdue Warning''. No fines yet, since it's just a warning. :D

If you still fail to renew/return, you get a ''Second Overdue Warning'' after a few days. No fines still, 2nd warning only ma.

After about 2 weeks overdue, you will get a warning saying if you don't return the stuff immediately your borrowing priviledge will be suspended.

A few days after that you'll get a notice saying your borrowing priviledge has been suspended. Yea you can't borrow any more items, but then no fines yet. Haha.

Alright i'm not sure what happens after that, cos the longest i've had stuff overdue was slightly more than 2 weeks, and right after that when i returned the books the suspension was lifted. I guess it'll probably be 1 month after the due date before you get any fines. Lol.

Hold on... actually i suspect there isnt any fine system at all. The £6k was probably from replacement of lost books. I seriously think so.

So yea... the library is very very kind you see. Maybe cos they charge too much for school fees that they dont wanna fine so much. Lol. Or perhaps... they simply really do like us :)

but in a bid to wake up slightly after sunrise everyday instead of waking up too early (lol), i have to stay awake until 9pm at least.

with just about 8 hours of darkness everyday, i want to start sleeping at sunset so that i wont be woken up by the brightness :( and sunset is just before 9pm now.

sian arrr so sleepy... but i'm starting to get a hang of ARM... except for the cache part which i have no idea what the notes are trying to say =.=''

something happened today that made me happy.. but i can't remember what =.='' i think i was happy that i woke up at 7 :/ yea maybe it's that. oh... i think it's cos i brought my camera out for a walk :)... or maybe.. it's cos i could understand ARM... :) or maybe... cos i had the whole com lab to myself this morning... hmm dunno la.. can't remember... could be cos i ate chocolates also :/

oh and there was fire alarm at EE building just now... and it was so cold outside :( dont know how i'm going back later if it gets colder :/

Today i had quite a headache :( and i ended up sleeping through a better part of the day... and alos got woken up so many times -.- It's proportional to the length of time i sleep.

But the first time i got woken up was for a good reason. The housing agent came and confirmed that the room can be partitioned into 2 and told us how it would be done (funny he came 1 1/2 months after he said he would come -.-). But still, good news. It seems the door to the balcony won't be blocked. And i get a single room next year! Yay. I know my father would say "told u to get a single room u wouldnt listen". Hahahaha yea he was so damn right.

So yea I'm so blardy happy cos i really can't stand it anymore.

Anyway, I've decided to fly on the 26th at night. Haven't booked yet, but gonna book soon. I checked the website and they still have places so not too much to worry. I have also started packing a bit :D happy happy happy happy can go home.

Monday is a Bank Holiday i think. Which means i get more time to mug. Happy happy bunny. Mugging is my favourite past time now.

Anyway, Spanish oral went okay... crapped a bit and sometimes got the grammar wrong but overall i think it was alright :) I could answer most of the questions... except for the part when they asked my what's my hobby, i said playing piano blah blah blah play in music centre blah blah classical music blah blah beethoven.

And they asked what else? I said I like to read... and... and... and... *insert 30 seconds awkward silence* cos I can't remember what else I can say about things I like to do ahahahhahahha. I did prepare to say I go to the movies once in a while but i forgot T.T But i think i was smart cos i said "pero no tengo mucho tiempo libre" which means "but i don't have much free time" to which the examiners agreed aahhaha. Hopefully it went well la... I also managed to peep at some other people's marks hehehehe.... but that's not important cos most of the people i dont know anyway :/ haha.

Some thoughts

Sometimes when i think about things... i realise that the person you are today is greatly influenced by the past events in your life.

Certain things hurt/traumatise you so much that it leaves an imprint on your life. It changes you, and the effect stays on for a time longer than you expect, and its magnitude greater than you realise.

Even though time passes and things change and bad things go away, no matter how hard you try to erase the dark spots you can't. Even though you know what they are. It's not like when you're writing a program, you can debug (F10 F11 F10 F10 F9 F5 ZZZzzz) and when you realise what is the problem you can get rid of it. Cos these dark spots have become part of you, they made you what you are. Like when you have a cut on your skin, it heals after some time, but the scar remains there, and you'll remember how the pain feels like for a long time.

Some things can be forgiven and forgotten rather easily, like some minor cuts will vanish with time. But other things, perhaps they can be forgotten and let go as well... but it takes time... 5 years? 10 years? I don't know. Or perhaps you have to learn to get over it, to overcome the fear in you, the disappointment. To forget how the pain feels like.

But sometimes, even when you have forgotten how the pain feels like, when you see the scar, the memories come back and haunt you. It reminds you that you were once miserable, even though you can't remember how it feels to be miserable.

I think it's important to think about this once in a while... To understand yourself better, to know why you behave the way you do, look into your past.

London Snowed!

Well, the 2nd time in the year. The 1st time it snowed i was in Stockholm (where there was more snow :P) and it snowed again on 7th of April! Really surprising cos last year the latest it snowed was in early February. Now its April, supposedly spring time :S

Haha not that i'm complaining anyway :P It snowed probably about 1.5-2 inches which is ALOT for London hahaah. I wanted to go to the city centre when it snows but since the snow wasnt heavy i thought it would have melted already. So i went to Hyde Park instead.

Frederik's Church, also known as Marmokirken (The Marble Church). I was so lucky that it was Sunday and they have a tour up to on top of the dome of the church on sundays :D The dome is like the biggest in Scandinavia, and the tour promises a 'breathtaking view of the city'. Haha. Had to pay 25 Danish kroners though (2+ pounds). But I went anyway :P

Today we listen to some songs. Well, Glen Hansard has been shot to fame for the movie 'Once' and the song 'Falling Slowly' which got an Oscar. The Irish band has been around for quite some time actually, but not that well-known.

Anyway, I've been listening to a few of their songs, both from the movie soundtrack and their earlier work. 'Falling Slowly' is very nice. Here are two others which I would like to share:

Everytime
A cover of Britney Spears' song, and it's recorded in an album called 'Even Better than the Real Thing vol 2'. Hahaha it's so true! And I like the violin... the plucking is sweet... although i dunno whether its just me or the second high note sounds a tat off :) i think its intentional haha.

Btw... the video has some gay scenes. Don't watch if you're not very comfortable with that. Though I still prefer this video to the one with Britney's face from start to end. Haha.

The Little Mermaid is like the national symbol of Denmark. It's a story written by Hans Christian Handersen. You can read the whole story here, but I'll tell you the synopsis haha.

Okay story goes like this: The little mermaid grew up in the sea, and when she was old enough, she swam to the surface. Then she fell in love with a prince, and also saved him from drowning. But the prince never saw her.

Merfolk will turn into sea foam and ceast to exist when they die, but humans have an eternal soul and will go to heaven. So, this little mermaid wanted to see the prince and have an eternal soul. Therefore she went to see the sea witch to get some potion so that she can get legs to go onshore. However, to get a soul, she will have to make the prince fall in love with her. Otherwise she will die and become seafoam.

Sadly, the prince married a princess from somewhere, and mermaid was heartbroken. She jumped into the sea and turned into seafoam. I think after that she turned into a spirit or something lol.

This statue of the Little Mermaid has like part legs and part tail... so I don't know whether it's before she drank the potion or after or what. But I'm sure it's before she turned into sea foam. LOL.

Anyway, I've made a #3 in the series of pictures-with-emo-Chinese-words. I found the few lines really apt for the mermaid story :D

Okay about the story of the statue beside the church... It's called Gefion Fountain. Here's the story:

The story behind the fountain originates from Norse mythology, by which the Swedish king Gylfe offered the goddess Gefion as much land in Sweden as she was able to plough during one day and one night. She transformed her four sons into oxen. Gefion and the oxen did their job so well that they were able to acquire Zealand. This mighty bit of work left a huge hole in Sweden, where lake Vanern is today located. An observant person will notice on a map that the outline of Zealand matches quite well the outline of lake Vanern. In this sculpture it is Gefion, the energetic Norse goddess, who swings her whip over her sons. The backs of the oxen swell under the strain and water sprays up from behind the wheels and the plough. The water coming out of the nostrils of the oxen emphasises the dramatic action, and the power and strength the oxen put into their work.

But I didnt see no water when I was there :( Haha i guess they decided to turn the fountain off to save some energy. And I did't know where Zealand is. Only knew where is the new one lol. That's before I googled it haha.

So... Zealand is actually the island where Copenhagen is on hahaha. Pardon my ignorance. Hmm... okayla it does look abit like the lake la, just rotated slightly.

Alright, let's take a break from pictures and see some videos. This is so amazing...

She plays by ear, she can't see, and she is 5 years old!

Omg.. she started playing at 3 without any lessons. Her hands are small, yet if you see how she deftly she moves her fingers... it's as if she's so familiar with the keyboard and the songs.

It's even a bit scary, like she's the reincarnation of some musician :S. This is like 100% a gift to her. And she is a gift to the world.

I guess God is fair to her (from a non-Buddhist point of view :P), taking away her sight but gave her this talent. And the parents who adopted her, well, God is fair to them too, they can't have their own baby, but because of that they've got such a beautiful talented child. They must have had good karma, especially for willingly adopting a blind child without prior knowledge of her talent. And her biological parents, for whatever reason they had to give her up, it's a loss to them.

I'm really amazed @.@ I think this is what 'miracle' is.

This was a train station we stopped at to change trains on our way from Stockholm to Oslo (We changed trains 3 times, this was our second change). The train in the picture was a sleeper train. It was the first time i took a sleeper train! I will post pictures of the interior if I don't feel too lazy :P.

Anyway, it's a small station at Södertälje, very quite since it was 5+ in the morning. The platform as you can see was entirely covered with fresh snow. Reminds me of Polar Express hahaha.

This was one street in Copenhagen, beside the canal. It's called Nyhavn... or something like that :P The row of shops on the left are mostly somewhat-posh restaurants serving seafood like their famous herring.

Hahahaha yealor. Lazy to blog but want to blog. Remember the bench picture with emo words last year? There's actually another picture in that 'series'. Hahaha if two's company then two's series as well XD. And the series is of pictures with emo chinese words. LOL.

Anyway... here it is. Picture was taken pretty long ago, during last summer, using my IXUS.

Flower is the Night-blooming Cereus, Scientific name Epiphyllum oxypetalum, only blooms at night, and lasts for one night only. I stayed up to take the pic okay :P It is often used as a metaphor to describe fleeting things.

Chinese words are taken from a song, i think the name of the song is 昙花一现, but not very sure cos the song quite old d hahah.

Translation (literally): "You are like a night-blooming Cereus appearing for just a moment, and disappearing before my eyes like a snowflake."

Hi everyone, i havent been updating for some time, mainly cos i'm too lazy T.T

I've got stuff to post, but really just too lazy la. Well besides that, i've been busy studying and playing dota :D Nola i dont play that much :P

Well anyway this post is related to those 2 things i do a lot lately.

First, about doing problem sheets. I've been trying hard to do problem sheets, but usually i can't do them without looking at the solutions. But you can't really blame me for that actually.

Today i encoutered a question like this:

Looked through the notes, didnt find anything useful. So, as smart as i usually am (:D), i looked for the solution. And here it is:Ok the important part is highlighted in yellow. Alright so holidays have started, so i should start blogging hahaha. On the last day of term, i had a dinner that was owed since... 2 terms ago. Basically it was a bet won by 4 ppl against 1, so the 1 person had to chia us :D We chose Belgo cos the food is not bad and theres this beat the clock thing where you pay the amount per dish according to what time u ordered the food. So we went the earliest possible, i.e. 5pm :P

The food was quite good for a good price. We ordered 7 maindishes (for 5 of us) and here are the pics. Pictures of food might be a little cacat cos hungry mar :P Sausage and mashed potato thing

Halo halo been here since the day before yesterday... it feels colder than Stockholm but so far it hasnt snowed yet. Témperature now is 0 degrees and forecast says heavy snow showers today. Anyway Í've seen most of the places here so it should be fun if it snows later :P

And the keyboard i'm using is super irritating cos it is very obviously a UK keyboard but they configure it to input as a Danish keyboard, i.e. what you see is not what you get +.+øø er supposed to be -.-''. I still havent had a computer with a card reader yet so cant upload any pictures for the time being ;)

I'm in Stockholm:D was snowing lightly in the day... and when we touched down the trees were covered with snow... so nice :) but we were very tired cos we didnt sleep much so we spent the afternoon sleeping in the hostel. went out at night to take some pictures of the night view hahhahaha. Anyway its quite cold here... everywhere we go it will be about -2 to 0 degrees brrrrrr.

Barisan Nasional only gained about 51 percent of the popular vote from the 7.9 million ballots cast on Saturday.

However, it took 63 percent of the seats contested - or 140 of 222 seats in Parliament.
Interestingly, its peninsula-wide popular vote was only 49.79 per cent, which effectively means that the opposition received the majority vote.

When converted to parliamentary seats, BN won 85 of the constituencies in the peninsula, while the opposition won in 80.

• The youngest candidate was PKR’s Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who is 26. He defeated Seri Setia incumbent Seripa Noli Syed Hussin. The oldest candidate was grandma Maimun Yusuf, 89, who contested in the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat.

• 56 also-rans from opposition parties and independent candidates lost their deposits after failing to secure one-eighth of the votes cast.

• The largest majority was won by DAP’s Teresa Kok against BN’s Carol Chew, by 36,492 votes in the Seputeh parliamentary seat in Kuala Lumpur. The smallest majority was just 14 votes for BN’s Hamdi Abu Bakar who beat Abu Bakar Haji Hussain of PAS in the Pengkalan Baharu state seat in Perak.

• Four pivotal players in the Lingam tape scandal also won: Loh Gwo Burne (who recorded the footage), Wee Choo Keong (lawyer who represented VK Lingam’s brother during the inquiry) and R Sivarasa and Sim Tze Tzin (listed as witnesses but eventually not called). All four are from PKR.

• There will be two ‘lone rangers’ in Parliament: Zulhasnan Rafique, the sole BN survivor in Kuala Lumpur’s 11 parliamentary seats - he took Setiawangsa; and DAP’s Chong Chieng Jen who won Bandar Kuching in Sarawak - the remaining 30 parliamentary seats went to BN.

• The biggest number of candidates was in the Sukau state seat, Sabah, where eight candidates ran, including five Independents.

Candidate finds 26 'phantom' voters in family's home

...Since the start of the election season this year, opposition leaders and poll watchdogs have called upon the government’s election oversight body to ‘clean up’ the election rolls.

There have been recent reports of almost 9,000 voters over the age of 100 in the rolls as well as residences with dozens of registered voters. In Georgetown, Penang, for example, a deserted army base was found to have 500 voters registered to it.

Although activist groups like Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) and Malaysians for Free and Fair Elections (Mafrel) argue that election roll issues like these compromise the voting process, the EC has dismissed the complaints.

In responding to the existence of voters with birth dates from a century or more ago, EC chief Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman argued that his commission was not responsible for the existence of dead voters in the electoral rolls.

According to him, the EC relied on data from the National Registration Department (NRD) when cleaning out dead voters.Reacting to Lee’s concerns on the existence of 26 unknown voters at her house, EC secretary Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor did not considered it as a pressing “issue”.

“The legal issue is that your name must appear in the electoral roll (to vote) for a parliamentary seat or state seat,” he told Malaysiakini.

Kamaruzaman said that the EC employed a comprehensive process in expunging names from the electoral rolls.

Given that the election is on Saturday, he suggested that as long as people are registered to vote, it shouldn’t matter what address they are registered at.

Some ppl are so... like tut -.- Why cant they just blardy wash other ppl's stuff after using? if they cant wash it right away, can wash after eating rite? can wash the next morning rite? JUST FREAKING WASH IT BEFORE DINNERTIME THE NEXT DAY, WHEN THE OWNER NEEDS TO USE IT CAN? I dont care if you dont wash your own stuff as long as they dont smell, but other people's stuff?

Look... i wont be so mad if it happened once or twice... but it happened SO MANY times already, and each time i had to tell the culprit in the face "Hey did you use my stuff, Can you wash them please?". Seriously every single time. Sometimes even a few days after they used it. Geram.

And more geram is when i get the ~~answer~~ question back: "Oh you need to use it ar?"

Hmm... Should i answer...

"No, actually no, my rice cooker is just for decoration. And i'm telling you to wash it so that it looks nicer", and give a nice sweet smile.

and even worse i get "Oh i thought you dont need to use it."

Should i say "I'm terribly sorry you didn't know. Maybe I should text you at 5pm everyday to tell you what stuff I need to use for dinner, so that you can wash accordingly." *smile*

Now... does it mean that if i don't need to use it... you wont wash it until I you need to use it?

Instead of assuming i dont need to use it, can you instead assume that i need to use it? like please? Why do I have to tell you to wash MY stuff when I need to use MY stuff? I'm not your maid okay, i don't need to clean up after you.

And of course all sorts of other excuses.

There's even once when i'd gone through the usual template of coming-back-want-to-cook-dinner-see-stuff-still-not-washed-from-the-day-before-hey-can-u-wash-my-stuff-pls-oh-u-need-to-use-it?-i-didnt-know-that and i said YES and was all annoyed, i got "okay i'll wash it later".

erm... sorry? i dont think i heard you right... did you just say you'll wash it LATER? later like when? wash it NOW can?

Come on la, it is your responsibility to wash ppl's stuff after you use them. And even if they dont need to use it, it is basic courtesy to wash them after you borrow okay. Not leave there for 3 days, or infinitely until they tell you to wash, or until you need to use it, whichever comes earlier. I can't even remember where i learnt it... it's just so basic i think it comes naturally.

And to think i've reminded them soooooo many times... i mean... "HELLO, DO YOU GET IT?"

I can say it in Spanish if you cant understand English okay. If you cant hear me i will try to learn how to say it in sign language. I've even got it written down nice nice big big in red ink and stuck on the kitchen cabinet door right next to the sink. AND, i'm not the only one who kena. Other victims have made themselves heard, and pasted notes too.

Oh, sorry i didnt know you can't read.

I've decided to start revision plans on 3 March, that is after Mnite, and project and whatnots. Why 3 March? Well that is the day the library starts opening 24 hours, not that i'll be staying there for 24 hours, but i hope it will give me some kind of motivation, like it did last year. That'll be a good 2 weeks before Easter break. Hopefully i'll be traveling somewhere for 1-2 weeks, then the remaining 3 weeks will be hardcore revision, just like last year. I'm targeting a better grade than last year, it'll be hard i know :( but i'll try.

I'm announcing my plans here to give myself some pressure haha. Also if you see me slacking, please tell me that i'm going to fail, and remind me about my plans. thanks. :D

China announces plastic bag ban

plastic bags from June this year, in a bid to curb pollution.
